Al-Mujadilah: Center & Mosque for Women
Areas: Prayer Hall
Designs: Custom carpet
Location: Doha, Qatar

For the Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women in Doha, TSAR Carpets partnered with Diller Scofidio + Renfro to realise a truly visionary concept, a modern reimagination of traditional Islamic rug motifs through pixelation and spatial abstraction.
In this project, a classic prayer rug design was deconstructed and transformed into a contemporary visual language. The result is a monumental hand-tufted rug that balances reverence with innovation, bridging cultural tradition and modern design sensibility. The pixelated motif, expansive in scale, weaves visual continuity across the prayer hall, echoing the inclusive spirit of the mosque itself.
The Al-Mujadilah Center was founded by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation. It was conceived as a space that supports the spiritual, communal, and intellectual needs of Muslim women of all generations. The design aligns with this progressive vision, offering an environment where faith and future-thinking coexist.
Working closely with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, our design team and artisans translated this ambitious vision into a bespoke textile installation, merging craft with cultural narrative and architectural clarity.
