Designs are now manufactured by our in-house team at our factory in Portugal. The launch of TSAR’s own factory marks a huge milestone for the company. David Sharpley, TSAR founder and CEO, began making hand-tufted rugs himself in a small space in Melbourne 35 years ago. The inception of TSAR saw David taking on all aspects of the business from design, to manufacturing, and sales and promotion. David’s experience and knowledge throughout his business journey inspired him to create and lead a manufacturing team of his own as it was important to maintain agency over innovation and speed of delivery for his clients. David wanted to produce from a space that reduced carbon footprint and promoted sustainability, a combination which inspired the idea for launching his own factory.
